'When I began my studies with the RAD, I wrote down my future goals. My first goal was to teach ballet abroad. After 16 years of owning my own private school in the US, I finally took a risk and accepted a job with Sufei International Ballet/Art Education in Shenzhen, China. Teaching in China has at times been frustrating and stressful, but my experiences here have taught me so much about my teaching practice. When I first started, I spoke no Chinese and communication with the students was difficult, but I quickly learned that dance IS a universal language. Students don't need a perfect teacher; they need a happy teacher who makes them excited to come to ballet class and grow a love for dance.'
